   The Latin American Institute of the Juche Idea (LAIJI) held several gatherings in Mexico City from the 15th to the 17th of July, 2016.

   Present in a series of gatherings there were directors of the LAIJI Board including Prof. Ramon Jimenez Lopez, who is director general of the IIJI Board as well as director general of the LAIJI Board; Dr. Milton Burbano Bohorquez, deputy director-general; Prof. Omar Lopez, deputy director-general, Mr. Eleazar Rubio Aldaran, secretary general; and other members of the LAIJI Board. They were from Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Peru and so on. Also joining there were Dr. Ogami Ken-ichi, secretary general of the IIJI, and his party, a delegation from the Korean Association of Social Scientists (KASS) headed by Secretary General Ri Hak Mu along with Juche idea researchers from Mexico.

■ Seminar on Independence and Peace in World

   A Seminar on Independence and Peace in the World was held in the City Hall of Mexico City on July 16. It was attended by the people from various walks of life and a diversity of ages such as those from different political parties including congress people, university professors, advocates, youth and students, some 100 in all.

   The seminar was presided over by Mr. Eleazar Rubio Aldaran.

   First, Secretary General Ogami Ken-ichi made an address.

   In the keynote report entitled "For Independence and Peace in World" made by Director General Ramon Jimenez Lopez called on the participants in the seminar as his closing words as follows: Let us always lean on the masses while interpreting, defending their interests and desires faithfully, and working with honesty, justice and love for the people.

   Afterwards, directors of the LAIJI Board, members of the Mexican Committee for the Study of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism, and a delegate from the KASS made their speeches. The seminar was closed after adopting a letter to Chairman Kim Jong Un of the WPK.

■ Lecture Meeting on Kimilsung-Kimjongilism

   A lecture meeting was held at the Assembly Hall of the Chamber of Deputies on July 15 with Dr. Ogami Ken-ichi, secretary general of the IIJI as lecturer.

   Attending there were politicians like congress people including Ms. Ana Juana Angeles Valencia and members of the municipal assembly of the Federal District, and people in various walks of life, with a variety of ages from junior high school students to the elderly in their 70s, some 200 in all.

   The lecture meeting was presided over by Director General Ramon Jimenez Lopez.

   In his lecture entitled "Kimilsung-Kimjongilism is Banner of Anti-imperialism and Independence in Latin America," Dr. Ogami Ken-ich, secretary general of the IIJI, referred to the tendency of global independence, the downfall of imperialism and its maneuvers of aggression, and then gave explanations of the victory of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism that had been pointed out in the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) as follows:

   "The Juche idea researchers in the world have continued to perform the study and dissemination of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism as the guiding idea of the era of independence and put an emphasis on their work for making their own countries independent.

   "It can be said that a new page of history has opened up in Latin America where a wind of anti-imperialism and independence is blowing, while people's passion for a new socialism has kept burning.

   "Our duty to contribute to global independence by disseminating Kimilsung-Kimjongilism is getting more and more important."

   Similarly in the questions and answers, Director General Ramon Jimenez Lopez gave supplementary explanations of questions raised by some of the audience with examples made in the DPRK where Kimilsung-Kimjongilism is alive.

   The audience attentively listened to their talks full of new things about the DPRK that they knew for the first time and the study and dissemination of this idea in the other country.

   On July 17, a meeting of office-bearers of the LAIJI Board was held.

   After the directors of LAIJI Board from Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela reported situations of the activities in each country, opinions regarding future work were exchanged in an active manner.
