in Benin, Nepal, Italy, etc. on Occasion of 71st Birth
Anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il

    On the occasion of the 71st birth anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, efforts were made in various parts of the world to deepen the understanding of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism and bolster the push for achieving peace and independence in individual countries and the world.

BENIN:
Juche Idea Serves as Quintessence of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism

    A National Seminar on the Juche Idea was held at the Cotonou Institute of Journalism of Benin on February 5, 2013 to mark the 71st birth anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
    Present there were teachers and staff at the Cotonou Institute of Journalism and the Abomey-Calavi University as well as members of the Benin National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Benin Group for the Study of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism.
    Chairman Hessou Kohovi of the Benin National Committee made a report entitled "Kimilsung-Kimjongilism Is an Integral System of Idea, Theory and Method of Juche".
    He said:
    The Juche idea is an important part of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism and serves as its quintessence.
    The Juche idea, which says that man is the master of his own destiny and is capable of carving out his own destiny, clarifies the man-centered philosophical principle, the socio-historical principles and the guiding principles for revolution and construction.
    Kimilsung-Kimjongilism raised the issue of leadership method as an independent part of the revolutionary idea for the first time in history and comprehensively systemized it.
    The undying feats First Secretary Kim Jong Un performed by formulating the revolutionary thoughts of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il as Kimilsung-Kimjongilism, will go down in history.
    It was followed by speeches on Kimilsung-Kimjongilism.
    A congratulatory message to First Secretary Kim Jong Un was adopted at the seminar.

NEPAL:
Juche Idea Studied in Relation to Realities of One's Nation

    A talk program and film show on the contributions of General Secretary Kim Jong Il was organized by the Study Forum for Self-reliance, Nepal on February 8, 2013 to commemorate the 71st anniversary of his birth.
    Present at the gathering were distinguished personages including journalists, political leaders, trade union leaders, and social activists.
    It was presided over by Chairman Subash Kaji Shrestha of the Forum. Mrs. Rashmi Shrestha, secretary general of the Women's Study Forum for Juche Idea welcomed those participants with her song.
    At the gathering, General Secretary C.P. Mainali of the Communist Party of Nepal (ML) highlighted the achievements made by General Secretary Kim Jong Il in reference to his contribution to peace and security in Northeast Asia, sustaining independent status of his nation, and opening up the June 15 era of Korea reunification.
    President Manju Ratna Sakya of the Nepal Journalist Association, who is also member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea, stressed that Nepalese political leaders ought to earnestly learn from the Juche idea and Songun politics originated in the DPRK to create quarrel and conflict-free political situation in Nepal.

ITALY:
Explaining Juche Idea to Students and Youths

    The Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Korean Friendship Association (Italy) held a seminar on the Juche idea at the Planet Theater in Rome on February 16, 2013 on the occasion of the 71st birth anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
    It was attended by a number of people, most of them were students and youths.
    Scholars including Prof. Matteo Carbonelli at University of Rome "La Sapienza", who is also secretary general of the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea and vice-chairman of the Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, delivered their speeches on the contribution of the General Secretary to the development of the Juche idea and Songun politics.
