―On Subject of “Independence, World Peace and Social Justice”

A Latin American Regional Seminar on the Juche Idea for “Independence, World Peace, and Social Justice” was held in Mexico City on May 3-4, 2025, under the auspices of the Latin American Institute of the Juche Idea.

The Seminar was attended by more than 200 participants, including Prof. Ramon Jiménez López, director general of the Board of Directors, the International Institute of Juche Idea, who is also director general of the National Institute of Technology of Mexico (TecNM), Prof. Eleazar Rubio Aldaran, secretary general of the Latin American Institute of Juche Idea (LAIJI), and Juche idea researchers such as those from Venezuela, Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia, and Chile, who are members of the LAIJI Board, Mexican academics and political figures, youth, women and others.

The seminar was also joined by Dr. Ogami Ken-chi, secretary general of the IIJI online, as well as in person a delegation of the Korean Association of Social Scientists (KASS) led by Mr. Ri Je Sun, its vice-chairman, and Juche idea researchers from Japan.

The seminar was moderated by Ms. Nayeli Erandi Jimenez Juarez, a Mexican Juche idea researcher.

In his address Vice-Chairman Ri Je Sun of the KASS expressed his gratitude to the participants of the seminar and said as follows:

“This seminar will show clearly that people’s aspiration to independence and justice is the trend of the times that cannot be checked and that the fundamental guarantee for preserving peace and realizing social justice lies in proceeding along the path of independence as clarified by the Juche idea. Thus, in such a sense, this seminar will become a significant gathering.” (Click here for more details!!)

At the seminar, Prof. Ramon Jimenez Lopez delivered a speech entitled “For Independence, World Peace, and Social Justice,” in which he discussed the significance of promoting the study and dissemination of the Juche idea in the context of the contemporary world in the followings:

“Humanity is now facing a historical turning point. The unprecedented system of exploitation, plunder, and corruption that Western imperialism has imposed, that is, unilateral globalization based on neoliberalism, on almost every country in the world for decades, with the exception of the DPRK and some others, is collapsing and shifting to a multipolar world order.

“It is precisely in this historical transitional period that the study and dissemination of the Juche idea, which fosters independent and creative thinking, and social consciousness, is becoming increasingly important.

“At this new stage of human history, it is essential to disseminate and propagate the basic principles of the Juche idea, especially its core idea of ‘independence and sovereignty,’ to a wide range of people. In order to realize this, it is necessary to fight for the achievement of a truly realistic and sustainable peace.”

Dr. Ogami Ken-ichi, secretary general of the IIJI, gave an online lecture entitled “Struggle aimed at Loving and Believing in the People” at the seminar.

Dr. Ogami gave his lecture in the following three parts: 1. The Era of Anti-Imperialist, Independent Forces, 2. Juche Idea as Socialist idea of New Era and 3. Youth and Intellectuals Play Pioneering Role in the Revolutionary Struggle. Saying that the contemporary era is indeed the era of independence, which clearly shows that independence is the most important value of the peace and development of one’s own countries and the rest of the world, he further mentioned that the Juche idea is a revolutionary idea of the new era with universal values that can be applied to any country or any region. Finally, he stressed that it is indispensable for the youth and intellectuals to play an important role in the forefront of this process and that with them in the vanguard, the people’s revolutionary struggle should be promoted more and more vigorously. At the seminar, the following personages gave speeches: Prof. Omar Lopez, deputy director-general of the LAIJI Board; Prof. Eleazar Rubio Aldaran, secretary general of the LAIJI; Francisco Davila Valle, deputy director-general of the LAIJI Board, who is also president of the Costa Rica-DPRK Cultural Association; José Fernando Sánchez Troncoso, president of the Association of Colombia-DPRK Friendship and Juche Idea Study; Ruben Parada, a Chilean scholar of the Juche idea; Teresa Otiniano, chairperson of the Peru Association for the Study of Mrs. Kim Jong Suk’s Revolutionary Activities; and Andrea Zarate Fuentes, president of the Youth Movement for Independence in Latin America.

Prof. Omar Lopez spoke about the current situation of the world as follows:

“The West, led by the United States, and other countries in other regions of the world who follow them, are now facing an inescapable crisis in the newly arising economic, social, cultural, and political realities. Humanity has already spoken out against the oppressive and unequal international order and the structures of domination, and it is time to build a new, more just world, in line with the principles set forth in this seminar.”

In connection with the promotion of the study and dissemination of the Juche idea, Francisco Davila Valle stated:

“In the contemporary era, the struggle for independence is, in essence, a struggle for democracy. We must uphold the democratic principle of equality and mutual respect among all nations, regardless of geographical, social, religious, or ideological differences, and on this basis, develop friendship and cooperation among nations.”

Introducing to the audience a “Chart for Making a Better Understanding of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism” made by some of Mexican Juche idea researchers, Ms. Andrea Zarate Fuentes said as follows:

“We believe it is important to systematize and disseminate Kimilsung-Kimjongilism through an analysis, a synthesis, and an orderly harmonization of its comprising principles. In this way, we hope to contribute to the promotion of the cause of socialism in the world.”

The seminar also featured many congratulatory messages from Juche idea researchers of the world, including Prof. Matteo Carbonelli, director general of the Board of Directors, the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea.
