Speeches

On behalf of the sponsorship, Chairman Himori Fumihiro of the Japanese Committee for Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea said:

“It is a glorious history of the WPK in that it has overcome much hardships together with the masses with set teeth, and turned the DPRK to be a powerful socialist country on a higher level.

“We support the struggle waged by the DPRK, while conducting our activities to support the early realization of the reunification of Korea. Let us make it an awareness that the division of Korea was rooted in the colonial rule of Japan, so that Japan should take responsibility for the reunification of Korea. Being against the three partys’ agreement between the Workers’ Party of Korea, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the Socialist Party of Japan, the former Abe administration fueled the improbable DPRK’s threat theory, promoted a thorough policy of hostility to the country, while steadily strengthening Japan’s military ability to attack the DPRK. Let us change this tendency.”

Prof. Emeritus Ie Masaji at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, who is representative coordinator of the Japanese Liaison Council for the Study of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism appealed as follows: “The WPK is the party that realizes the idea of PresidentKim Il Sung. The Juche idea requires to safeguard independence, and the WPK is the party that fights for global independence including the country of its own. The study and dissemination of the Juche idea, Kimilsung-Kimjongilism is the engine that propels the era of independence.”

Next, Dr. Pak Myong, chief of the Chair of Philosophy and Political Science, Korea University in Japan gave a presentation entitled “On the Characteristics of the History Traversed by the WPK.”

Introducing a speech made by Chairman Kim Jong Un entitled “Making Selfless, Devoted Efforts for the Good of the People Is the Mode of Existence and Source of Invincible Might of the Workers’ Party of Korea” on October 10, 2015, and referring to the WPK’s political stance that adheres to the people-first principle, Dr. Pak said that there is a source of the strengh of the WPK in its faithfully response to its leaders: President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Chairman Kim Jong Un, while upholding aloft Kimilsung-Kimjongilism as the only guiding ideology. He further said that even under the difficult situation after the latest natural disasters, the members of the WPK responded to the call issued by Chairman Kim Jong Un to provide those victims with the medical cares on the highest level and rushed to the restoration sites. Then he said that it showed that the single-minded unity of the WPK has been strengthened more in the history of its 75 years.

A video-delivered speech of Prof. Emeritus Taira Ken-ichi at Okinawa University entitled “The Workers’ Party of Korea Promoting Socialist Construction with the People-First Principle.” was introduced on the paper basis.

The seminar was closed by an address made by Prof. Emeritus Kamakura Takao at Saitama University, who is director of the IIJI Board. He said:“Chairman Kim Jong Un said that they should not allow 0.001% of this infection to be overlooked at the 18th Meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committe of the Workers Party of Korea on September 29, 2020 by enhancing the people's volitional unity. He made an important proposal that the epidemic prevention system and order must be firmly adhered to. The establishment of a self-reliant economy has become crucially important amid the severe restrictions on foreign trade due to the Corona disaster. He said: “I believe that the DPRK is showing a typical example of the economy. The Korean people are responding in such a way that their foreign policy never allows aggression and war, and if a relationship of equal and mutual trust can be established, the war can be prevented. This year even though the typhoons have hit the DPRK many times and the sanctions on it have been strengthened, the reality of the DPRK which has established independence and is promoting economic construction and an independent national economy, proves the universality of Kimilsung-Kimjongilism. Let us make the Juche idea as our own belief and advance ahead with many more people together along this path.”

After the seminar there were arts performances. Ms. Tooyama Yoko, singer, who is also vice-chairperson of the Japan-DPRK Association for Exchanges of Music and Arts sang Japanese and Korean songs.

A performer said that “In spite of ordeals under the novel coronavirus pandemic that has made a great change in life, there will be no night without dawn. There will be a hopeful tomorrow.” Bouquets were presented to the performers, and the art performances ended with a big applause.
